Ed Taemets hails from Brisbane, Australia. Having studied in Brisbane and Philadelphia, PA, he graduated with a bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in printmaking. After a few stints of travelling and working odd jobs, Ed returned to Australia and began tattooing in 2012.

Ed honed his skills in fine-line black and gray tattooing in Melbourne for , frequently travelling and working throughout Europe and soaking up all the knowledge he could. This exposure to the imagery of pagan mythology, catholic and byzantine iconography has left its mark in the visual language of Ed’s work. He enjoys both small and large scale work, and frequently draws from the trove of traditional western and eastertattoo imagery.

Ed moved to the US in April 2025, and after a brief stint in LA decided to make the smart decision of relocating to Austin in November to become a part of the team at Communion Eastside.

When he’s not tattooing, he loves exploring the natural beauty of Texas, catching the live music Austin has to offer, and painting.
